  • Rapid Molecular, SARS-CoV-2 test
  • CoronaChek COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Antibody Test

RT-PCR SARS-CoV-2 testing FAQs:

  1. What is an RT-PCR SARS-CoV-2 test?
    1. Also called a “molecular test”, a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test is a test used to diagnose people who are currently infected with SARS-CoV-2, which is the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
    2. The PCR test is the “gold standard” test for diagnosing COVID-19 because it’s the most accurate and reliable test.
  1. How much does it cost?
    1. With insurance, most COVID testing is covered when testing is deemed necessary for the evaluation and diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2.
    2. Without insurance or for screening purposes, all PCR COVID testing is self pay.
  1. What is the turnaround time for the RT-PCR test?
    1. Because we use a third party lab, turn around is dependent on volume.
    2. Typical turnaround time is 48-72 hours.

Rapid Molecular, SARS-CoV-2 Testing FAQs:

  1. What is the SARS-CoV-2 rapid molecular test?
    1. This test is a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT), similar to the RT-PCR test.
    2. Like the RT-PCR test, the rapid molecular test detects viral RNA (nucleic acid), which is the virus’s genetic material.
    3. We use a shallow nasal swab to collect the sample.
    4. Results in 30 minutes
  2. How much does it cost?
    1. The rapid molecular test is self-pay.

CoronaChek™ COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Antibody Test FAQs:

  1. What is the CoronaChek™ Rapid Antibody Test?
    1. CoronaChek is a rapid serology test obtained via a finger stick blood sample.
    2. It detects IgM and IgG antibodies against COVID-19 in the blood, which indicates that a person has been exposed to and developed antibodies against the virus.
    3. Because the test checks for antibodies, it may also confirm that your body produced antibodies in response to vaccine administration.
    4. It is not used to diagnose an active COVID-19 infection. If clinically indicated, a follow up test may be warranted.
  2. Can the  CoronaChek™ antibody test confirm that my body produced a response to the Vaccine?
    1. Yes, because the test checks for antibodies, it will confirm your body’s response to a COVID-19 vaccination.
    2. It is important that you wait at least 2 weeks before checking for antibody response from a COVID-19 vaccine.
  3. How accurate is the test?
    1. The CoronaChek™ antibody test is extremely sensitive and specific.
    2. 99.6% Accuracy for the detection of IgG
    3. 97.8% Accuracy for the detection of IgM
    4. There is a very small chance of a false positive.
  4. How much does it cost?
    1. The CoronaChek Antibody Test is $50 self pay.

  • We conduct most of our testing outside the building at your car.
  • During inclimate weather, we utilize a remote, isolated portion of the building with a separate entrance. This room is sanitized between patients for everyone’s safety.

  • Please call us (610) 688-8807 when you arrive and we will direct you.
  • Remain in your vehicle.
  • Please keep your facemask on during the entire visit until asked to lower it for the swab.

We utilize a small probe that is only inserted about 1 inch into your nostril.

Our probe does NOT go all the way into your sinus cavity like some others do.

  • (RT)-PCR tests will also be made available through the patient portal of LabCorp or Quest.
  • Rapid results will be provided right away with documentation.

IM Health Urgent Care currently offers both (RT)-PCR testing and Rapid antigen testing.

  1. What’s the difference and which is right for me?
    • (RT)-PCR testing is considered the “Gold Standard” in testing for Covid-19.
      • These results are considered to be close to 100% accurate.
      • Turn around time is usually a few days.
      • Cost:

    • Rapid antigen testing can be completed in about 15 minutes
      • These tests can produce slightly more false negatives than a (RT)-PCR test but tend NOT to produce false positives. (i.e. if it’s positive, it’s positive)
      • Cost: Office visit + $100. We are not currently billing this test to your insurance company. We will provide you with an itemized receipt that you can submit to your insurance.
