What is Exercise is Medicine?

EIM is a global initiative managed by the American College of Sports Medicine,
with the goal to “make physical activity assessment and promotion a standard
in clinical care, connecting health care with evidence-based physical activity
resources for people everywhere and of all abilities.”

How are we using it at IM Health?

The physical medicine department is incorporating the ACSM research and protocols into exercise programs for patients with a variety of diagnoses! This is a collaboration between physical therapists, exercise physiologists, and athletic trainers. Participants will receive a personalized program that addresses strength, balance, agility, core, cardio, and flexibility. You will have weekly in person training sessions with an exercise professional on staff!

#1 Get a Referral from Your Doctor

After consulting your healthcare provider, ask for a referral to our program with a physical therapy script.

#2 Stop In and Give Us a Call

#3 Get Evaluated

Come in for your scheduled initial evaluation. Spend 30 minutes with a licensed physical therapist and 30 minutes with an exercise physiologist performing baseline testing protocols. Make sure to wear appropriate workout attire!

#4 Exercise

We will work with you to create a program that fits your schedule and coincides with your insurance benefits. This customizable program can consist of in person weekly workouts and a home program to ensure you are getting all the physical activity that is recommended for you!
